The letters ‘CE’ are the short form of French phrase ‘Conformité Européene’ meaning ‘European Conformity’. As CE was initially tossed as EC which later in 1993 became CE. ‘CE Marking’ is now used in all EU official documents. European Union has set up a certain of essential necessities that a product must accumulate with in order to get a CE mark. This mark when used by a manufacturer gives a clear indication that the product is built with those standards. Since last July 1, 2014 and in compliance with Regulation 305/2011/EU of the European Parliament, the design and manufacturing of self-supporting storage systems must be in accordance with EN 1090-1:2009 / A1 2011 "Execution of steel structures and aluminum structures", commonly known as CE marking. This only applies to rack clad buildings (silos), leaving all other storage systems exempted from this regulation.
